One of the most important things that COVID-19 has showed us is how important it is to address health challenges such as obesity. Evolving evidence on the close association between COVID-19 and underlying obesity provides a new urgency – and inspiration – for change. Obesity is a disease that does not receive the attention it should have with its increasing prevalence and devastating impact. It is a gateway to many other diseases and conditions and is now a major factor in COVID-19 complications and mortality. There is a window of opportunity to advocate for and implement actions across the workplace to educate individuals about the importance of self-care – especially where weight is concerned. Take a look at this study Covid-19 and Obesity: The 2021 Atlas for more information about the impact of the Obesity Crisis.
