Welcome to our employee spotlight series that will allow you to get to know the people behind your policy. Ron Richwalls is a Commercial Lines Account Executive based in our Western Region. He has been in the insurance industry for seven years, with EHD for three years in October, and is known for his dedication, effective communication skills, and client-focused mindset.
A Pivot from Healthcare to Insurance
When Ron first entered college, he studied Exercise Science with plans to become a physical therapist. During his first year though, after an uninspired internship, he changed course. Through a mutual friend, he tried a different internship in the insurance industry and never looked back. He decided to change his major to business management and pursue a career in the insurance industry, with a particular interest in property and casualty.
Putting people first at EHD
From a young age, Ron has always been a talkative person, finding it easy to make friends and communicate with others. This has translated well into his position at EHD, and he loves being able to engage with different people and industries.
One of Ron’s most memorable moments from his time at EHD was when he helped a municipal client resolve five outstanding police officer claims that were left unpaid.
Outside the Office
When Ron has free time, he is either spending time on the golf course, watching movies, or cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers. Ron has been a fan of the Steelers since he was a kid, owning a season pass to this day, and goes to every home game possible.
One of his favorite Steelers memories was the 2016 Christmas Day game against the Ravens, when Antonio Brown stretched across the goal line for a game-winning touchdown.
Ron also loves hanging out with his friends and family, whether it is in Pittsburgh or when he gets to travel to Florida. He has recently started playing golf and enjoys getting to play with friends and pick up new skills. When he’s looking for down time, Ron loves to watch movies. While his favorite of all time is ‘Super Bad’ he is also into superhero movies and enjoys the Pirates of the Caribbean.
Ron is a valued member of the EHD team and takes his role, and helping his clients, seriously.
